Before your first visit

Inside the clinic.

Coming somewhere new when your breathing is already hard work is its own hurdle. So here is the whole place before you arrive — the door, the room you will sit in, and the gym where the work happens.

You will be met at reception.

Reception is straight ahead as you come in. There is nothing to fill out at the desk — registration is done online at least 24 hours before your first visit, so the appointment starts when you sit down.

The consulting room

Your first appointment starts here, sitting down, for most of the hour. History, breathing tests, blood pressure, and what you actually want back — walking to the letterbox, sleeping flat, getting through a shift. Nothing physical happens until that is clear.

Most of a first appointment is talking and listening, before assessment and treatment begin.

The gym

Every session in here is personalised.

It is not a public gym and you will not be sharing it. Nobody trains to a class plan here — the exercise is prescribed for your condition, your test results and what you are working towards, and it is adjusted as those change.

Oxygen saturation, heart rate and effort are watched the whole time you are moving.

What a session looks like

Three parts, every time.

01
We sit down first

How the week has gone, what has been hard, and anything that has changed since last time.

02
Then you move

Only as far as you are ready to go, with a physiotherapist beside you the whole time. Stopping is always allowed.

03
It gets measured

Distance, load and effort recorded each session, so progress is a number you can see rather than a feeling.

Wear something you can move in and bring your usual shoes. If you use oxygen, an inhaler or a spacer, bring it — we will work with what you actually use at home.

Now you have seen the clinic, book an appointment.

No referral needed. Appointments most weekdays at our Rockhampton clinic.
